Residence Hall Walkthroughs

We’ll be making rounds in every Freshman residence hall on two separate days during the move in. Our staff members will be knocking on everyone’s doors offering assistance with getting devices connected to the network, and with any other technology-related issues you may be facing. You can check and see when we’ll be coming by on our website.

How do I connect my device?

We have instructions for connecting the most popular devices on our website.

These are just some of the useful guides from our website. You can find all of this and more in just a few clicks.

GTother Device Registrations

If you have a device like a Chromecast, Fire TV Stick, Raspberry Pi, or something else that can’t connect to GTwifi, we can register it for you on GTother for a four-month registration. This works around having to sign the device into LAWN every time you want to use it. If you want to take advantage of this, submit a help request (select category “Wireless Network” and summary “Device Registration”. Please include the type of device that you want registered, and one of our staff members will get back to you as soon as possible with what we need from you to get it registered.

Note that our procedure has changed slightly from the last year or so for those of you that have been around. We’re not requiring you to come into our office to register devices any more (except in extenuating circumstances). We have a new procedure that’s more convenient for both you guys and us. Hooray process improvement! If you’re nearby though and want to stop by to get it registered, you are more than welcome to do so.

Reminder about Wireless Routers

Please keep in mind that if you opt to use a router in your dorm to connect multiple devices, any wireless radios must be disabled per the Georgia Tech CNUSP. We will be aggressively checking for broadcasting networks during Fall Move In, so please ensure that you have any wireless features disabled. If you’re not sure how to do this, feel free to flag one of us down during our walkthroughs or submit a help request and we’d be happy to help you out.
